North East Inclusive Dance Network

Posted: June 6, 2013

Dance City and TIN Arts are inviting interested individuals and organisations to attend an open meeting to discuss the possible formation of a North East Inclusive Dance Network.

The open meeting will take place at Dance City in Newcastle on Tuesday 18th June from 1.00 – 3.00pm. It is for anybody who is interested in talking about the future of inclusive dance in the North East of England and is for disabled and non-disabled artists, supporters, organisers and providers.

The open meeting at Dance City will aim to explore a number of areas including (but not limited to)
· What might the purpose/s of a North East Inclusive Dance Network be?

· How would / could it achieve its purpose?

· Who should / could be involved?

· How should / could it move forwards from the initial meeting

The meeting will be chaired by an independent Chair, Samantha Clark, from Inclusion North. We would be delighted to have as many people attend as possible who wish to work together to raise the profile and strength of inclusive dance activity across the North East of England.

You may also be aware that a National Inclusive Dance Network is currently in the process of being established led by a number of partners including the Foundation for Community Dance and some initial meetings have taken place thus far. Launched in April 2012 this network consists of individuals and organisations committed to enabling disabled people to more easily enter and progress through the dance sector. We hope that the formation of a network for our region can tie into larger initiatives and developments occuring nationally.

We would like to know in advance who is attending so please notify us of your intention to attend by emailing and by putting ‘Attendance at NEIDN’ in the subject header.
