21 February, UK Tour PAUL ZIVKOVICH
After
two sell-out performances in Newcastle we headed
off to Scotland on a train to Inverness. Wow, what
beautiful scenery...moving smoothly across the coastline
to Edinburgh, a 20min train transfer, then a left
hand turn inland through breathtaking snow covered
mountains towering little wee villages. Having only
a vague memory of seeing snow when I was ten, witnessing
this was something very special.
Garry, Tony, Carol, Larissa, Xuan and myself
woke early on our day off to have a quick breakfast
and be on a bus at 10:30 taking us to the very famous
Loch Ness. After a bundle of funny wee stories from
the bus driver, half an hour later we were on a
cruise up the Loch. It was cold and windy but the
scenery most certainly made up for it...would love
to report a sighting of Nessie but maybe next time.
Our performances in Inverness and Stirling (our
next stop) went very well, despite a last minute
rehearsal to cover a very sick and red nosed Lina.
It is always exciting when cast changes and alterations
are made as it shifts the focus and energy of the
show in positive ways. It keeps us all on our toes,
something very much needed I feel in a tour this
long. We have been in Manchester a few days now
and during a quick coffee in a small cafe in town,
Daniel, Xuan and myself overheard some Australian
accents behind us and immediately introduced ourselves.
Almost two hours later we were still chatting away
and discovered they were to from Adelaide. Such
a small world! Looking forward to seeing them at
the show on Tuesday and again in London early March.
Looking forward to our time in Snape next and performing
The Age of Unbeauty will be a refreshing change.
We are staying in little cottages there also which
sounds like fun! Paul Zivkoich
13 February, On the Road to Inverness LINA LIMOSANI
What
an exciting feeling it is to perform in a beautiful
VICTORIAN theatre, to a sold out audience of 1,300,
2 nights in a row. Opening night in NEWCASTLE
went well, however, a few changes to the cast on
the second night put us all on edge a bit. An
injury forced Anton and Shannon to cover some parts,
learning the roles only a few hours before curtain
call! And what a master of a job they did.
They are amazing.
The journey on the train to INVERNESS, SCOTLAND
started with a laugh. We nearly caused a few
arguments trying to find our seats which were double
booked, or someone else was sitting in them. The
awesome views along the way had our jaws on the
ground. Such beauty. Glad we have a day off
here to have a look! Might check out Loch
Ness with Kris tomorrow. Lina
10 February: Sheffield LINA LIMOSANI
Our
first performance in the UK!!!! After 3 months
of performing in Europe, it is a refreshing change.
Sheffield is our first stop, and what a welcome
we received. A sold out show, to a fantastic
audience. Hopefully a signal of things to come.
The workshops were a success. It's great to
see faces enjoying themselves and eating up information
like the students I taught repertoire to at
Sheffield College. Such a pleasure to work with.
Pitty I didn't get to see them after the show.
I'm sure they enjoyed it! Newcastle
next. Lina
9 February: Sheffield PAUL ZIVKOVICH
After a very
enjoyable two weeks touring through Holland and Belgium (again) we were on our
way to the UK, flying into Manchester Airport on Sunday the 6th February. I
managed to walk off the plane and leave behind all the very important paper
work one needs to get through the Customs check desk. Thankfully my passport
and tickets were retrieved from the plane that was preparing to depart for
Germany in just 30mins. A short time later I was on the coach with the rest off
the company and on our way to Sheffield.
The following day we set out in small groups
teaching dance workshops at various schools and colleges around Sheffield;
Longley Park, Sheffield College, Abbeydale Grange and City School Sheffield.
Myself, Xuan and C-Jay (Caitlin) taught a workshop at Longley Park which went
very well. They were enthusiastic and willing to give anything a go...from
spinal rolls to travelling hip hop routines to some ADT repertoire...and one
and a half hours later we were exhausted!
Our performance of Birdbrain at the Lyceum
Theatre on Tuesday night went extremely well. The audience was enthusiastic and
scattered throughout were students from the previous days workshops, screaming
and cheering at the end of the performance, it was overwhelming.
What a brilliant way to begin the UK tour. Paul

Lina
or any of the ADT dancers, email
