Emmanuel Obeya
Emmanuel Obeya
Mani was born in Nigeria. He studied in England at the Arts Educational School, the Rambert School and in New York at Dance Theatre of Harlem. He then worked in London as a freelance performer, in Germany at the Heidelberg and Mannheim State Theatres and more recently with Tanztheater Wien and the Wiener Volksoper. Mani has been a member of Fabulous Beast since 2003. After Fabulous Beast’s production of Giselle, he performed with Cabula 6 Theatre Company in Austria. Mani is also the vocalist with Sofasurfers. He previously performed with Fabulous Beast in Giselle and The Bull.

Michael Dolan
Michael Keegan-Dolan Michael was born in Dublin. After completing his trade exams as a metal fabricator in Ireland. He went on to study full time at the Central School of Ballet (London).  He has worked with Heildelberg Ballet (Germany), LaLaLa Human Steps (Canada), Tanz Theatre Wien, Volksoper Wien and Actions Theatre (Austria). Michael is also a shadow yoga teacher. Teaching privately in Vienna and for Willy Dorne Dance Company and Fabulous Beast. He previously performed with Fabulous Beast in Sunday Lunch, The Good People, The Flowerbed, Giselle and The Bull.

Daphne Strothmann
Daphne Strothmann Daphne was born in Tanzania. She studied at Bush Davies and Laine Theatre Art School (England). She worked in Germany with Tanztheater Regenbogen and then moved to Vienna where she was member of Tanztheater and Volksoper Wien. In 2004 she was choreographic assistant to Michael Keegan-Dolan for Faust at the Royal Opera House (London). Daphne is a teacher of shadow yoga, teaching privately in Vienna and for Fabulous Beast. She previously performed with Fabulous Beast in The Bull and The Flowerbed and played the title role in the company’s production of Giselle.

Khamlane Halsackda
Khamlane HalsackdaKhamlane Halsackda was born in Vientiane, Laos, but grew up in London from the age of four. At sixteen he studied drama before taking up dance at Lewisham College where he then proceeded onto the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance and for two years National Youth Dance Company. After graduating he went to work for Richard Alston Dance Company. Since then he has worked for Henri Oquike Dance Company, Mark Baldwin, Glenn Wilkinson, Niklas Laustiola, Wayne McGregor’s Random Dance and Bonachela Dance Company, Arthur Pita and Ben Wright. This is his first production with Fabulous Beast.

Angelo Smimmo
Angelo SmimmoOriginally from Naples (Italy), Angelo currently lives in England. He began his performing career dancing at Atelier Rudra Bejart Lausanne (Switzerland). He then spent 5 years performing with Maestro Roberto De Simone, one of Italy's most influential musicologists playing leading parts in well known pieces as La Gatta Cenerentola, L’Opera buffa del giovedi' Santo, Requiem in memoria di P. Pasolini and L’ Osteria di Marechiaro. Angelo recently performed the role of Oberon in Lindsay Kemp's version of A Midsummer Night's Dream and John Dee in Elizabeth I el ultimo baile. Other recent credits include the role of Dushasana in a Sadle'’s Wells' (London) production of The Mahabharata music by Nitin Sawhney, the role of Madison in Madison's Descent, a concert composed by Michael O’'Suilleabhain and choreographed by David Bolger; Teatro el Grec Barcelona, Comedie Francaise Paris, Munich Opera House, Teatro Reale San Carlo di Napoli, Teatro Piccolo di Milano, Teatro Valle di Roma, Orchestra Filarmonica di Bari and The Royal Opera House Covent Garden London among others. He previously performed with Fabulous Beast in Giselle and The Bull.

Neil Paris
Neil ParisBorn in Norwich, England, Neil was a cabinetmaker for ten years before training at Darlington College of Arts and the Laban Centre. Previous work includes: Darkin Ensemble, Fronteras at The Old Vic and Tiebreak Touring Theatre. Neil is a freelance performer and workshop leader and recent projects have included working with primary school children in Norfolk, Peterborough and London. He previously performed for Fabulous Beast in Giselle, The Bull and The Flowerbed.

Rachel Poirer
Rachel PoirerRachel was born in Brittany, France. She studied in the conservatoire of Rennes and La Rochelle. She then carried on her training at the Rudra Béjart School in Lausanne, before joining Rambert Dance Company in London. She went on to become an apprentice with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. She is now freelancing having worked with Les Ballets de la Parenthèse in Marseilles, choreographer Christophe Garcia and John Jasperse Company in New York. She previously performed with Fabulous Beast in The Bull and The Flowerbed.

Vladislav Benito Soltys
Vladislav Benito SoltysVladislav was born in Slovakia where he danced as a child with the folk dance company Zemplin. Following study at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Bratislava, he worked with Allegro Dance Company in Slovakia, Laroque Dance Company in Austria, Bratislava Dance Theatre, Landestheater Linz, Wiener Volksoper Austria, Aktionstheater Wien and Slovak Dance Theatre in Bratislava. He previously performed with Fabulous Beast in Giselle, The Bull and The Flowerbed.

Lorena Randi
Lorena RandiLorena graduated with a BA honours from London Contemporary Dance School in 1995. She worked for the Michael Clark Company from 1998-2006, dancing and assisting projects. Sha has worked for many other choreographers including Mark Morris, Charles Linehan, The Cholmondeleys and Aurthur Pita. Lorena teaches technique class internationally and is a lecturer at London Contemporary Dance School. She has worked for Michael Keegan-Dolan on many projects, however this is her first appearance with Fabulous Beast.

Milos Galko
Milos Galko Born in Slovakia, Milos studied modern dance at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Bratislava. On graduating he worked with the Laroque Dance Company in Austria; Soap Dance Theatre in Frankfurt; DCA Philippe Decouflé in France; Tanztheater Volksoper Wien, Aktionstheater and Chris Harring in Austria. He previously performed with Fabulous Beast in Giselle, The Bull and The Flowerbed.

Cliodhna Hoey
Cliodhna HoeyCliodhna Hoey is from Mullingar, Co Westmeath. She started her training with Anica Louw, Shawbrook, before attending Hageschool voor de Kunsten Artez Dansacademie, Arnhem, The Netherlands. She graduated this year with a BA Honours degree in Dance. Cliodhna has danced with Rex Levitates Dance Company and Stichting Jens Van Daele (Netherlands). This is her first production with Fabulous Beast.


Michael Keegan-Dolan
Since 1997 Michael Keegan-Dolan has written directed, choreographed and co-produced six productions for his Irish Midlands-based company, Fabulous Beast.  These were: Sunday Lunch, Fragile, The Flowerbed, The Christmas Show, Giselle and The BullGiselle toured to the International Festival of Arts and Ideas, New Haven, USA, bite at the Barbican Centre, London, and Festival-Dialog, Wroclaw, Poland in October 2007. Giselle was nominated for a 2006 Olivier Award for Best New Dance Production. It will be presented in the Festival-Dialog, Wroclaw, Poland in October 2007. The Flowerbed was performed in the Dublin Fringe Festival 2006 and at the Barbican and was nominated for a UK Critic’s Circle Dance Award for Best Modern Choreography. The Bull was also successfully presented in London at the Barbican Centre in 2007 and will tour internationally in 2008. His choreographic work also includes Rakes Progress for Robert Lepage at La Monnaie, Brussels; Faust and Macbeth (Royal Opera House); The Duchess of Malfi, Carousel and The Oedipus Plays (Royal National Theatre); Ariodante, Manon and Alcina, (English National Opera); The Love for Three Oranges (Cologne Opera); Pique Dame and Ariodante, (Bavarian State Opera) and Ariodante and Manon, (Houston Grand Opera). He has worked with director Chris Cunningham on his Video Art Creation, Flex.

Philip Feeney
As a composer, Philip has worked almost exclusively within dance and ballet. He has written the music for over ten works with choreographer Michael Keegan-Dolan, including The Bull, Giselle and The Flowerbed.  His scores for Northern Ballet Theatre include Cinderella and Dracula. He has also written the music for Adam Cooper’s Les Liaisons Dangereuses and collaborated with Didy Veldman for Rambert Dance Company, Cullberg Ballet, Scottish Dance Theatre and Gulbenkian Ballet. He has been Musical Director and Composer in Residence at Ballet Central for twenty years.

Adam Silverman
Adam Silverman works in opera, theatre and dance. Recent productions includes The Bull, Flowerbed and Giselle for Fabulous Beast; Jenufa, Makropolus Case and Siegfried with English National Opera; Orfeo, One Touch of Venus and the Eight Little Greats season at Opera North and the premiere of the play Five Gold Rings for the Almeida Theatre. Other credits include: Macbeth and Don Carlo for Opera Ireland; Cyrano de Bergerac and A Tale of Two Cities for the Gate Theatre; Das Schatzgraber for Oper Frankfurt; Pique Dame for Bayerische Staatsoper; the premiere of the musical Beauty and the Beast for the Royal Shakespeare Company and the play A Day in the Death of Joe Egg on Broadway. Upcoming work includes Tannhauser for San Francisco Opera; Aida for the Deutsche Oper and Turn of the Screw at English National Opera.

Merle Hensel
Merle Hensel trained as a theatre designer at Central St Martins School of Art and Design and the Slade School of Fine Art. She has since produced a wide range of work for theatre and film. Recent theatre credits include The Bull, The Flowerbed (Fabulous Beast); Trial and Park (Jasmin Vardimon Dance Company) and Ippolit (Sophiensaale, Berlin; Schauspielhaus Zürich; Münchner Kammerspiele). Recent film credits include Baby and Die Flucht (directed by Phillip Stölzl). Merle is also a lecturer (Goldsmith University, Central St Martins School of Art and Design, Rose Bruford College).

Alexis Nealon
Alexis Nealon studied guitar performance and sound engineering in Ballyfermot, Dublin and later gained a Master’s in Music and Media Technologies from Trinity College, Dublin. Recently, he has composed for Cois Céim and I.M.D.T., engineered with Crash Ensemble, composer Gerald Barry, RTE NSO, Improvised Music Company and Temple Bar’s Trad and Diversions Festivals. Recent theatre designs include Cois Céim’s Knots and Hanging on by a Thread and Tall Tales’ Wallflowering. He is continuing the development of innovative music software and experimental surround sound in the “LXS!” digital studio. This is his first design for Fabulous Beast.
