Call Out for four female participants
Gary Clarke Company embarks on a major 2016 national tour COAL!
COAL is a new piece for dance theatre that marks the 30th Anniversary of the 1984/85 miner’s strike. With humour and grit in equal measure, COAL is an emotional, moving and relevant story of community, solidarity and survival. It is based on years of personal research by Gary Clarke, including interviews with Anne Scargill, former wife of NUM president Arthur Scargill, and Betty Cook, the founders of Women Against Pit Closures.
Gary Clarke Company is looking for females over the age of 30+ to be a powerful role in the representation of women throughout the show and join dancers and musicians for a remarkable live theatre tribute to the people living in the coalfields.
Gary Clarke Company will work with everyone’s individual needs and abilities to explore a range of performance work, social dances, partner work and to make their own contribution to the story.
No dance on stage experience necessary, just a willingness to get involved!
How to get involved? Click the following links to find details of the free workshops at Birmingham Hippodrome, Civic Theatre Barnsley and Cast in Doncaster (link soon). These workshops will provide an opportunity to meet the cast and find out more about performing in COAL at the individual venues.
